My files were not saved when i shutdown and rebooted DSL later - or at least they wernt restored. My .filetool.lst file reads:
Code Sample
opt/ppp
opt/bootlocal.sh
opt/powerdown.sh
opt/.dslrc
opt/.mydsl_dir
home/dsl/

Do i need to use a boot option to restore my files?

Any help appreciated

Hi
Did you assign a backup device through the DSL control panel?

Start up the control panel and choose "backup/restore".
Enter a writeable partition into the box (hda2, for example).

Or use the command "echo hda2 > /opt/.backup_device".

The backup process will not run if this file is empty.
