Hi All;

I am new to Linux in general and specifically to DSl.  I must say though this has breathed new life into my old 150MHz laptop.  One thing is bugging me though.

After doing a full HD install, which went off very easily, though not as easily as that of Feather Linux.

Everytime I start the computer I get the following.

Running from HD, regenerate ld.so cache and modules.dep.

I have never seen this on any other version of Linux and I have installed quite a few of them.  What is this and why does it have to happen on every boot?

Thanks

No idea. It certainly saves me running ldconfig when I modify libs though... it's fairly easy to disable, if you want, in /etc/rcS.d/S00knoppix-config (or something .. S00*, anyway).

I believe its the KNOPPIX autoscript regenerating all the loadable modules and whatnot...this way it will automatically load the modules it can identify, this way it can be run on any and all machines..no matter the hardware

I could be wrong though?   ???
