As a Windows user, I tried DSL and was impressed. Quite fast, really. However, I could not browse with Arabic fonts using FireFox (they were all jumbled up). Is DSL going to add this? Can I add it myself? (How?). Luit Linux seems to have no problems displaying these pages with FireFox.

Thanks.

:D

DSL is an English language only distro.

We try to support as many common keymaps as possible, but it would be impossible to include EVERY keymap and keep functionality in the required 50mb footprint.

There are no plans to support any other language in the base iso, but some users have submitted language packs as extensions.

You are welcome to do the same for your preferred language.

There seems to be a number of messages on this board asking to add languages (Arabic, Spanish, etc.). Would some kind soul tell us how to add them (a HOWTO of sorts)? All I need are the fonts to appear in FireFox, no need for fancy keymapping or anything.

Much obliged.

mms67, I think I can help on this. Please read < my post > as a guide line.

You need an Arabic bitmap font. I checked and found ae_fonts_mono (10x21.pcf) on < Arabeyes.org >
If you want to have Arabic menu, you need to download mozilla-firefox-locale-ar (use file ar-JO.xpi inside).

I tested it already. It works.
Maybe I will make it as an DSL extension tonight. If you want to help me testing it. Please send an e-mail to me.
