I am running DSL from the CD over WinXP Pro (no FAT 16 partition), on an HP Pavilion N5210 Laptop. I would like to do various tasks like, change the screen resolution, change mouse pointer size etc, etc. How do I do these things?, where can I find a user guide? I tried some keyboard commands from the Debian manual but they didn't work, I guess this is because there is nowhere to save the changes (maybe a floppy)? Also when I minimise applications they vanish, where is the menu at the bottom of the desktop?

I would avoid the Debian manual as DSL is for the most part a 'cousin' to Debian.

The way to change your resolution (and mouse pointer size) is to run xsetup.sh from the shell.

You can save changes to a floppy, USB key, HD partition, etc. When you reboot though you need to specify where DSL needs to look for that configuration. You can also make a DSL remaster CD once your settings are changed.

For more information go to < http://www.knoppix.net > for other tips and tricks. DSL is based on Knoppix 3.4, and many of the Knoppix cheatcodes work with DSL.

With your applications disappearing, it would help to know what window manager you are using.
