Changes to .jwmrc file not persistentForum: X and Fluxbox Topic: Changes to .jwmrc file not persistent started by: dumpster-diver Posted by dumpster-diver on Mar. 21 2006,23:22
DSL rookie here. First post.First off. My compliments to all involved! One very tidy (and fast) Linux distro. Even on an old Pentium MMX 166 I saved from the dumpster @ work. I'm running LiveCD, and trying to customize JWM's main menu, but every reboot blows away my edits to the /home/dsl/.jwmrc file. have checked the backup.tar.gz and it does not contain this file. Checked my /home/dsl/.filetool.lst file and it contains a "home/dsl/" line. What gives? Do I need to explicitly list the .jwmrc file? Thanks in advance . . . Posted by mikshaw on Mar. 21 2006,23:31
This file is listed in .xfiletool.lst, which means it won't be included in the backup. I'm guessing this probably has to do with the fact that the jwm menu is stuck into the same file as all the rest of its settings. If you backup the menu, it will not display auto-mounted or optional extensions. This may not be an issue for you, so remove the file from .xfiletool.lst and you should be good. Thanks.I'll remove it from .xfiletool.lst and see what havoc ensues . . Posted by roberts on Mar. 22 2006,00:32
It's only a good idea if you do not use any extensions.
