Perfromance issue with DVDs

Hello,

When playing back DVDs or using open GL the performance is poor. I've had this trouble before in other distros and I beleive its because of my Intel integrated video. Will swithcing to XFree86 improve performance? Are there other options? Is there issues with switching to Xfree86?

I'm sure someone will be asking you for the specs on your machine before answering in too much detail. They will also want to know what type of install you have, etc.
