Hi! After trying other distros someone suggested DSL for my old laptop (P2 266) and now everything works great! There's just one thing I really miss: Truetype fonts with hinting.

Websites don't look well with firefox and I'm really in love with the non-antialiased verdana :P. I just don't know how to install it.

I've installed Xfree86 (scrolling websites a pain any more) and I've tried compiling 'freeetype2'. But I don't know what else should I do. I've also copied 'verdana.ttf' to /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/* but it just appears in Abiword (with antialising) and in OpenOffice (antialiased when I write it, hinted after switching the windows - that's strange, isn't it??). The rest os the apps just ignore it...

Thanks in advance!

The rest of the apps were most likely built without support for this behavior.  If they were to include it, they would then require the libs necessary to achieve hinting, and that would increase the size of DSL.  Keep in mind that this isn't fact, but just the way i perceive the issue.

It's all about space, jeje. :) Anyway, thanks a lot for your answer.
