Which file under .fluxbox do I need to edit to get rid of the icons on the desktop?

Just right click the desktop>desktop>icontool>select "no icons" and ok

For persistence, edit /home/dsl/.desktop, changing icons: 1 to icons: 0, or use the "noicons" boot option, or remove the xtdesk command from /home/dsl/.xinitrc.
