X-DSL in great and fast but how to set the system to understand FI keyboard layout? lang=FI does not effect althouhg the system says the local to be FI etc... X11 must also be confd?

Despite that I'm using xbox and X-dsl 0.5, I'd like to know how in general is it possible to change keyboard layout to finnish (fi) or swedish (sv)?
I suppose DSL uses something else than X11 because the is no XFree... -4 config file at all.

you would boot with lang=fi cheat code or add that to the boot line, but since xdsl does not use grub or lilo i have no idea how you wold change yours. that's why i gave you the link to a xbox specific site, you can ask other people who are actully using a xbox based linux.

Well, I have added lang=fi (sv goes as well) to the linuxboot.cfg file and the system Info tool shows in Hardware leaf that the locals are FI, but I think that this is not working correclty due to a missing deffinition or file?

Noone doesn't seem to know anything about this subject either in DSL or XSDL comminity.. Why?

Perhaps it was taken out of xdsl to save on size.

Yes i have enabled APT and upgrade to GNU tools..
So you think the solution is what? can you give me exact sources.list place and package name?

that's it, in terminal run->
sudo apt-get update
then
sudo apt-get install language-pack-fi

if it's not in the stock oldstable repo than you can try sarge(change oldstable to sarge in/etc/apt/sources.list) you don't want to go higher than that, you'll get to many problems.

sudo is to install as root, it's not needed if you use the root terminal.

Hi There. Hope you got some sleep.

I did not find anything relating to finnish or locales with apt-cache seacrh.. I did tried several keywords but in vain..
It seems that my distro's sources.list has not got the desired sources.. can you give me a sources.list where to find finnish locales and keymaps?

my bag, i'm using ubuntu so you can't use my sourcelist. here's what it say's on the debian page to do.

C.4.4.5. Configure Locales

To configure your locale settings to use a language other than English, install the locales support package and configure it:

# apt-get install locales
# dpkg-reconfigure locales

NOTE: Apt must be configured before, ie. during the base-config phase. Before using locales with character sets other than ASCII or latin1, please consult the appropriate localization HOWTO.
