Hi folksi've got an older machine (300 mHz centrino) with a serial mouse on com1, ttyS0, it 's recognized by dsl, of course (it' s a "genius netscroll+", 2 button+scroll) and you can click with it, but As in the title mentioned you cannot drag window neither in flux, nor in jwm. i've taken a look at /.fluxbox/init and after that /.fluxbox/keys or whatever to check if some "drag capabilities" could added course i couldn't find anything... nor in wikis or faqs, or anything i'd appreciate any help thanks ##and an other question: how to get an irc account (i thought, that with registrating dsl forum i automatically get irc too, but it doesn't work) best regards Posted by mikshaw on Aug. 09 2006,20:53
You can set up the fluxbox keys file to move/resize windows with the keyboard. The applicable actions are listed below, although it's been so long since I've used fluxbox 0.1.14 keys file that I don't know the exact syntax of these actions (may need to add a +/- amount?).MaximizeWindow MaximizeVertical MaximizeHorizontal NudgeRight NudgeLeft NudgeUp NudgeDown BigNudgeRight BigNudgeLeft BigNudgeUp BigNudgeDown HorizontalIncrement VerticalIncrement HorizontalDecrement VerticalDecrement Fluxbox 0.9.x allows you to move/resize by a specified amount, which i really like. Not sure what you mean by "irc account". Do you mean registering with freenode? If so, that is a freenode thing that is unrelated to DSL. Posted by ^thehatsrule^ on Aug. 10 2006,04:29
To drag with your mouse, you can leftclick on the titlebar and drag it around. You can also use alt+leftclick+drag on the whole window. For resizing, you could either go to one of the bottom edges/corners. You can also use alt+rightclick+drag on the whole window. Posted by barczag on Aug. 10 2006,10:32
HiThanks for quick replies. i have checked the keyborad drag method,(i took a glance at it yesterday before your hint, but i have to admit not reallz get it) it may work, but i dont know how (eg: how to define the nudge button (i'll check in google)), and rather appreciate normal drag by mouse but thanks for help I was dump, and fuzzy yesterday not to tell, that i know the ALT+button golden rule in flux. I was trying (yester and today too): my window to be dragged (with alt+left) starts blinking and keeps on a while.. and happens no thing but at least my window arrow becomes a cross, what can remind one to a "start process" of window movement so even machine feels that now he or she should do somethg but it gets only to this . on the other hand just today came to my mind that my keys are hu not us...i thought if not the mouse wrong (it clicks) maybe alt at wrong place.. i changed in DSl control panel us keyboard to hu 1[]1, without much succeed (partiallz it s good) but as zou can see it's not perfect.. hehe as far as i see, (mazbe i wrong) some buttons are redundant while some are missing, for me. (for example: cant find yero (on main panel) which means zero; (and as you see it swaps z and y)) so all in all problem is the same, and an other is added thanks for help best regards Posted by fernan on Oct. 06 2006,00:24
Hi,Same happens to me in my Pentium 500Mhz, SiS video card. I can't move windows in Fluxbox, but i can move and resize in JWM. Same happens with DSL-not, but I didn't find another Window Manager in DSL-not. I have DSL installed in another computer , Pentium 200, and it works. (both have a Genius Net Mouse serial mouse) I will appreciate any help. I would really like to have DSL working, I like this distro . Amazing fast !! Fernan.- |
