is there a way to display ALL runing apps in the taskbar panel ? at this time i only see the minimized apps, all open apps with visible windows ar not in this taskbar.

and is there a way to display a systray like thing ? i use under windows often gaim and have it minimized to the systray. i wonder if there is a way like this to use gaim via systray icon in dsl with fluxbox...

I use "session.screen0.iconbar.mode:   Workspace" under ~/.fluxbox/init - can also be changed by rightclicking the toolbar->Icon mode.  You might be interested in the All Windows mode.

The systray thing depends on the app itself... some use plugins to do this, and if its slittable, you can dock it with -w flag passed to it.

i have set this manualy to ~/.fluxbox/init, but it seems not to work... when i rigtclick on the toolbar, i have no option for Icon Mode. I use the build in fluxbox version in DSL 3.01....

is this the one from the *.dsl extension ? when i install this extension, would my "build-in" fluxbox completely replaced by the *.dsl extension, so that i dont have fluxbox twice in my system ? or must i do some things manualy ?

No, it is self contained in its own directory in /opt
Take a look at the .info file and the instructions - it's pretty self evident there.

i have installed the fluxbox_0.9.14.uci today and it works perfect, the only thing i couldnt find is the systray... in the init file, the systray is listed under the tools section, but i cant see it in the toolbar... but thats no problem so far...

You won't see the systray till it's used, try opening gaim.

That's kinda odd, considering it was compiled without gnome/kde systray support....or at least that's what I assumed would happen when configured with "--disable-gnome --disable-kde".
Anyway, i'm glad it works for you =o)

Im using this with the fluxbox_0.9.14.dsl... and it works, i have there a icon in the systray after the start of gaim, when i click it, i have the options for gaim... maybe systray not only for kde and gnome ?

Probably not.  I just assumed that the purpose of the Fluxbox systray was specifically for apps that want to sit in the KDE/Gnome systray, which I found fairly pointless in Fluxbox (particularly in DSL) so i disabled KDE/Gnome support when building the 0.9.14 package.  I guess either it was built in anyway (i've noticed quite a few apps with broken configure scripts like that) or it's not what I thought it was.

If you install the fluxbox  0.9.1  .dsl it will get installed in /opt/
So your current fluxbox version is safe. However, I've noticed that Fluxbox 0.9.1 has a tendancy to crash, but that might have something to do with my Petium MMX.
