I'm running DSL on a really old Toshiba Satellite Pro 420 CDT, which has 2MB of VRAM and an 800x600 LCD.  DSL works great, but for some reason, even though my display is physically running at 800x600, X thinks it's much larger than (1024x768, I guess).  So when I move the mouse pointer to the bottom of the screen, it disappears.  Menus are cut off, and I'm guessing there's a row of icons on the bottom that I can't see either.  I'm only shown the upper left 800x600 of whatever my desktop is.

Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

Had the same problem on a NEC Versa 4080H laptop.  A bug (in the chipset I think) causes the panel size to be mis-reported. After playing poke and hope for a couple of days with all the various display settings, cheatcodes, xsetup, etc. I decided to install XFree86.

It is NOT plug & play, but well worth the effort! There is plenty of documentation out there. It took a couple of days to iron out the tweaks. It works great, and I learned alot in the process.

Peace to you,
Steve
