Exit window manager then at prompt enter
xsetup.sh
navigate to mouse port selection where you can specify two button mouse.

Or at boot prompt use the boot option xsetup

Usually don't really need to use the full XFree86 and manually configure.

I use an Alps Touchpad and also the touchpad in my Sharp MM10 with the standard tiny X. Usually ps2 and choose 2 button option in xsetup. Also have in working in an AMS Tech 233 with built in touchpad two button mouse
