Non-english characters under Xterm

I am using a DSL live-CD. After selecting another keyboard through the program 'Keyboard' I exit X and everything works fine in the console, I can succesfully type and see non-english characters.

When I start X again, the non-english characters are not displayed in the Xterm windows. I tried different fonts with the same results.

Could you tell me how to configure X to have non-english characters under X?

Number of things it could be..

It's probably the char code set not being correct... try opening a new xterminal with "CHARSET=iso8859-1" being set.

Another thing is that the xterminal font might not support the codeset.
