In my application I need the screen to be 'on' at all times. Presently after a while the screen switches off and I am not sure if this is a 'blank' screen saver or some energy mode feature.

I am running DSL ver 0.6x (can't recall exact version).

Is there any way to prevent this (I am not concerned about screen life etc)

Thanks

Try this ...
Type the line "xset s off s noblank" in your .xinitrc file

Would I put this before or after the fluxbox command?

I have also tried escaping from X (using alt+backspace) and then running "shutdown -r now" and this didn't help either.

I'm not aware of your "shutdown" problem.... sri.

I place the xset line before the "fluxbox" line
I placed the xset line before the "enhance" line
I placed it right after the # commented lines.
