Posted by curaga on July 21 2007,06:33What kind of mouse? touchpad, stick etc?
Posted by uncledave1969 on July 21 2007,06:39sorry for not posting that...it is a ps/2 scroll mouse
Posted by curaga on July 21 2007,06:43is it recognized on boot? ie do you see a message "mouse is p/s2 scrollwheel" etc anything related to mouse?
Also check if the kernel recognizes it: in Aterm type
Posted by uncledave1969 on July 21 2007,06:48yes it is recognized on boot....it says
Generic PS/2 Wheel Mouse /dev/psaux
Posted by curaga on July 21 2007,06:51does it happen to be a usb mouse with a ps2 convert plug?
I have one of those and they don't work if I boot with "nousb"
Posted by uncledave1969 on July 21 2007,06:56no...just regular ps/2
Posted by curaga on July 21 2007,06:57okay, I have no idea, it should work....
Long shot, but could a irq conflict be possible?
Posted by uncledave1969 on July 21 2007,07:05its possible!....I heared that one time before...they said to disable plug n play and then it should work....but...my bios does not have plug n play.
Posted by curaga on July 21 2007,07:14Well, what does your bios have?
if the irq's are listed there, check that the mouse does not have same as some else device. Even if it doesn't share one with any device, could try changing it's irq to another free number and see if that helps
Posted by uncledave1969 on July 21 2007,07:16it does not have an IRQ it just says
Posted by jpeters on July 21 2007,15:06As an option: I use a logitech wireless usb mouse on my laptops; works great.
Posted by ^thehatsrule^ on July 21 2007,20:03It could be conflicting with an embedded mouse pointer, i.e. on your laptop.
You could try disabling that. (or even try a full xserver, which might have better handling)
