Hi guys,

I am pretty new to linux and DSL in genreral and I have troubles configuring X for my laptop. It is a portege 3010ct and the only boot option that works for graphic mode is xsetup and than choose framebuffer. With this I get a working desktop but it is bigger than my screen. When I switch to VGA out display I get a full size desktop. Apparently I am using 800x600, which should be OK with my display...

Any idea?

OK,

Try booting with a smaller framebuffer size. If you press the F3 key during bootup, a chart should appear if you are using a newer version of DSL. Follow the instructions for the correct boot command.

For example, to boot with 640x480x16bit, type:

dsl vga=785

at boot time and then choose the framebuffer Xwindows server.

Thanks for the answer...
Thanks to you I found what was my mistake: I was trying to boot with the command line: "dsl base fb800x600" which doesn't work...

Try, fail, learn...
