So i had a new lcd monitor, and i was like, it would be really cool to use DSL on this shiny new monitor.  Grub starts dsl booting nicely, but when DSL starts to load the gui (startx stuff i think) the monitor goes black and says no signal.  If i boot into command line with dsl 2 and try startx i get the following error message after going black then returning to prompt:

Using X resolution from previously selected or deault settings.  If you want to change the resolution, run 'xsetup.sh" (I have tried this)
xinit: no such file or directory (errno 2): no program named "//.xinitrc" in PATH
Specify a program on the command line or make sure tha /usr/X11R6/bin is in your path
Waiting for X server to shutdown

If you have any ideas i would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,
Louis

The root account isn't setup by default to go into X.
The error message is typical, I believe,
of running startx from runmode 2 as root.

DSL doesn't really do any monitor detection..

Was it working OK with a CRT before?

My LCD works great at all resolutions provided by XVesa.

Are you using XFree ?  or Xfbdev ?

Once you get to the portion of video black,
hit ctrl-alt-f1 to get to your other VT, and then
hit crtl-c to break out of the xserver attempt.
Then run xsetup.sh as user DSL, and try some other settings.

Thanks, i got it to load using 800x600 xvesa.  Anything higher makes it and the lcd says no signal (or not compatible on the highest).

Do you know of any way I can add drivers or something to improve it?
