hello ,
i have a 15" MAG DJ530 CRT monitor , and it has very
dark display, eventhough the brightness is set on 100%
in the monitor's configuration.

how can i make the X server look brighter?

no-one else has replied to your question since june 25th....

I suspect your CRT is just worn out.  Check if it works better when attached to some other source.  I don't know of any gamma tricks in Linux.  I use powerstrip to control gamma ramps in Windows.
