Is there a way to have dsl boot straight to x windows where i can login without booting to command line.   i view /etc/inittab but don't know what to change.

If you want to boot into a graphical login screen, you'll need additional software.  I think there was an xdm extension made a while ago, but i'm not sure that it can be found in the repository.

By default, DSL should automatically take you into X unless you have some hardware issues, or have changed some settings such as removing 'startx' from /home/dsl/.bash_profile.

hmm... I think /home/dsl/.bash_profile should be there unless something is changed. It is hidden, when looking did you type 'ls -a' (if in terminal) or click the 'H' button (if using Emelfm)?
