I would much appreciate help for getting my DSL (live CD) run on my AMD K6 450 MHz PC. After the boot prompt I get nothing but a black screen. Other linuxes (Ubuntu and Debian) work OK. - What can be done???

Maybe someone could give me some good advice - thanks.

If you're using the regular iso I would suggest trying the syslinux version iso in the download area.

I never got this idea myself. It may be a good one. I'll try it ASAP.
Btw what is the difference between regular and syslinux?

An hour or so later I had a DSL 1.5 syslinux. Booting this gave the same discouraging result: Black screen after boot prompt.

I believe I need to install a driver for SiS, possibly on a harddisk installation. But how do I do it, when I can see nothing on the screen???

How about booting with the:

dsl vga=normal xsetup

or the

fb800x600

cheatcodes

Thank you so much for this advice. Booting with
dsl vga=normal xsetup  did it. Now dsl boots and I can experiment geting it up where I want it.
