hi everyone, i am new to linux
I've been trying to run dsl 2.0 off the cd without installing in my pentium 4 machine running xp.
I've change it to boot from the cd.
Everything seems to run fine, until the final step.
I can see everything is setting up but until the final step just before you can see the desktop load up, my pc goes blank, black on screen without anything.
I've tried to try it on my older machine, and i can get it to run just fine
Any idea for me?
Thank you

There are some safe options to try from the boot menu F2 or F3.

What kind of computer system?

Try typing:

fb800x600

on a blank line at the Boot prompt

Supposedly, it is possible to get DSL up and running in graphical mode with a Geforce4 ti4200, but you need to boot into a framebuffer mode like:

fb800x600

NOT

dsl fb800x600

You could also try other modes like:

dsl vga=769 xsetup

where you can replace the "769" with other codes from the F3 menu.

Then choose the "Xfbdev" server when prompted.
