hot to get dsl on a compact and bootable? I have the mini-itx board and a ide compact flash adapter. I want dsl on my flash card. ultimately making a dynamic digital picture frame.thanks Posted by mark_one on Jan. 20 2006,22:06
hi. i'm not sure about it but i guess when you're using an ide-cf card adapter, the cf card should behave like an ordinary harddisk, right? so you should be able to boot from it. if that's the case, you can do a "frugal install" to the flash card and use it. i didn't try this with an cf card, but i already did it with an ide-flash module (no adapter needed, because the module has a 40 pin connector which fits into an ide-port) on a VIA Epia ME6000 and it worked fine. there's more than one way to do this: 1. use the dsl-cd to boot into dsl and choose "frugal install" from the menu. 2. use the dsl-cd and type "dsl 2" at the bootpromt, so you're getting to the console. then you can run the frugal install script from there. it's under /usr/sbin/ well, maybe you have to change some lines in the frugal_install script, i don't know. greetings mark |
