I am new to linux. I am running DSL from Live CD. I want to set the Home and Opt directory to point to a local partition. Can someone please tell me how I can do it? Thanks Posted by mikshaw on Jan. 21 2006,16:25
When you see the "Boot:" prompt, type this:
where "hdXX" is the partition. The first time you do this, DSL will copy /opt and /home/dsl to this partition, if it's a writeable partition. If it's not writeable (NTFS, for example), you can expect some serious problems. Ideally, the partition should be reiserfs (in my opinion, anyway, reiserfs is much less prone to corruption than ext2 or fat). Posted by icpeanuts on Jan. 21 2006,22:27
Thanks, I will give it a try. Do I have to Enter that everytime the system boot? What is reiserfs? How do you get the partition be have format of reiserfs? Can the partition be Linux Extend 85? Thanks for your help. |
