Please, is there some way to make the clipboard work the same way with all aplications?  I'm tired of not being able to copy from Xshells, or from Sylpheed sometimes.  I'd like to select text, have it be in the clipboard bufferm, and then dump it elsewhere.

Thanks.

From the "Getting Started" document:
To cut and paste in Linux one simply highlights the text with the left mouse button and then press the middle button to paste. If you have a two button mouse you would paste by pressing the left and right button together. Cutting and pasting takes a little practice, but is very efficient after one gets use to it.
Does this not work for you?

Uhm yes, it does seem to work.  It feels a bit strange at first doing it on a touchpad, but it works fine.  Does this mean that the applications which have "Edit" -->"Copy" functions in them have coded them independently from the OS?  I'm curious about how each app seems to implement the function differently.

Anyhow, it works, thanks for the pointer.  I've read through the Getting Started doc a few times, but I guess this point never stuck with me.

Some applications use an internal clipboard-like buffer instead of a linux/X11 clipboard.

But the smarter applications understand both and can work either way.
