I saw that with some other knoppix based distros you could create a folder on your bootable cd with apps in it in the form of .tar.bz2 or .deb and be loaded at boot, so i was wondering: Can i do it in DSL? Or should i do a remaster [which sounds difficult :(]

Thanks

mydsl packages can be loaded this way.  If you have any in the root of your cdrom or frugal install, they will be loaded during boot.  Otherwise, you can use the boot option mydsl=xxxx to specify a partition, or mydsl=xxxx/path/to/directory to specify a partition and subdirectory
