Is it possible to have a splash screen during bootup or is the functionality not built into the kernel?

I *think* the kernel supports it, but the actual bootsplash application and files are not present in DSL (might need to rebuild initrd as well?). As far as I know, the KNOPPIX file would need to be remastered, or a traditional harddrive install used, if you want to incorporate it into DSL.

According to < Bootsplash.org >after patching the kernel it should just need to be enabled:
However, these options don't even show up under Console Drivers. I've tried with a 2.4.26, 2.4.30 and 2.4.32 kernel but I don't see the options. |
