Hi folks,

About "copy and paste" from console to document and from document to console.

I have a 2 button-mouse.

copy - highlight the text
paste - shift-insert

only worked occasionally.

Sometimes previous selected text was pasted.  Is there way to erase the old selected text.  OR is there any other methods.

TIA

When you press both buttons in a 2 button mouse it emulates the 3.rd button.

So to copy: higligth text
and paste: press both buttons of mouse.

Should work. Haven't tested it with DSL, cause I have 3 button mouse.
If it doesn't work, then you have to enable 3-button mouse emulation from somewhere..

I use a two button mouse with copy and paste both buttons at once.
You need to setup a two button mouse using xsetup.

Hi anaconda,

Tks for your advice.  Your advice works on other Linux distro but not on DSL 2.2b

Hi roberts,

Tks for your advice.  I ran both
System --> X Setup

and

xsetup.sh on console

I could not find the item "2 button/3 button mouse" there.  Please advise.  TIA

Say no to usb mouse
Say no to ps/2 mouse
Then you will get to the serial ports screen.
There you can still select ps2 or comX
The following screen will prompt for two or three button mouse.

Hi roberts,

Sorry for not to mention before I have a 2 button wireless mouse.  Maybe this is the problem.

Your advice worked on selecting 2/3 button mouse.  But my problem on copy/paste still remains.

Where can I find document re 2 botton wireless mouse.  TIA

Hi Hi roberts,

Further to my late posting.  I changed back the USB 2-button mouse.  Result was the same.  Copy from console and paste to editor or copy from editor and paste to console did not work.  Pressing the top buttons simultaneously did not paste any text highlighted.  Shift+Insert only pasted the first highlighted text.  No effect on susquent text highlighted.
