Hi! I am pretty new to linux. I've used it a bit on a freind's pc who used it as his only os, and I once had an acient pc with linux pre-installed on it that I got second-hand. I would like to get a LiveCD set up so I can use linux on my current computer without having to partition my drive and all that shit, but I can't figure out how to do it. I've looked at the download pages for mirrors of Damb Small Linux and there are like a hundred individual files that aparently need to be downloaded. What I don't understand is, first of all, if I need to download and intstall all those files and then, do I just write them to a CD, or what? And after I've written them to a CD how should I go about booting Linux from the CD?

It's not as hard as all that. Download one file from the current directory.That's the one named DSL-2.3.iso Here is a link.

This is a CD image so you need to use a CD burning program that can burn from an image, like Nero, or EZ CDCreator, or XPCDburner pro. After you burn the cd, then just make sure your BIOS is set to boot from the CDROM first, then boot with the CD in the drive.

Jeremy - All you need to do is download <dsl version>.iso. They turn them out so fast I can keep track of what the lastest non-test version but I think it is 2.3. Once you download the image you need to burn it to a CD but don't just copy it. You tell the burn program to burn a iso image. Each burn program is a little different so look for it or use the help. Once you have the CD burned you need to set you computers bios to boot from the CD ROM first. Then restart your computer and you are all set.
