I'm fairly new to Linux so please bare with me.
1.How can I chose my resolution+refresh rate .I have a hd install ,XFree86.dsl installed and ,finaly, I have it working at 800x600/85Hz after spending a long time trying to get runing at this resolution . I'm using the XFree86_config-4_svgafb (if I recall corectly) that I modified to work with my matrox video card.My question is how can I choose the resolution+refresh rate the display uses manualy?
2.How can I spoof my mac address at boot time . I know how to change it once I log on but I have to do it every time I restart.I have a cable modem with dhcp.I've seen some info on the net but I need to change the ifcfg-eth0 file wich I don`t have .
Any help would be appreciated.I'm trying to find some answears on the net but most of them are not dsl specific so they're not really usefull.

You can change the resolution by running the xvesa script (System -> Xvesa in the fluxbox menu). You cannot change the refresh rate with the tiny X server. You'll need to install XFree86, which is available through myDSL.

I have xfree86.dsl instaled like I said .I know you can't chage the resolution with the tiny X server , that's why I changed it.I can change my resolution with Ctrl+Alt+'+' but I can't get 1024 ,but I think I know how to do it.Also I've changed the /etc/network/interfaces file but it still doesn't change the mac at boot.

I don't know any specifics about changing the mac address, but if it's something you can do from the command line you can probably add those commands to /opt/bootlocal.sh, or back up any files that you changed.

For changing your resolution and refresh rate, you'd modify /etc/X11/XF86Config-4. You can find lots of info on the web about configuring XFree. There is also a mydsl package for xf86config, which is a script that will help you create a new config file by selecting choices from lists of hardware and other settings..
