dsl is a great operating sistem but the problem is when the italian keyboard layout is selected,the browser firefox and opera does not display and do not accept the @ key.
is fastidious because needed to open a notepad,type the @,paste-copy on the browser. I have tried all method with modified the file xinitrc and i have tried dsl 2.4rc2 but the problem is not resolved.
at the moment the solutions is unknown,i like if this problem was fixed if possible.....thanks however at roberts,john and at all community!

My spanish keyboard had same problem to write @ on FireFox
This solution was written before on DSL forum for italian keyboards and worked fine also for me.
Open ATerminal and type exactly:

xmodmap -e "remove mod4 = Mode_switch"
xmodmap -e "add mod5 = Mode_switch"

presto!

u can put these commands in /home/dsl/.xinitrc

the problem was not fix...i have tried this metod

ho provato tutti i modi e roberts ha modificato il file xinitrc nella versione 2.4rc2 con queste stringhe ma il problema rimane....non c'è un altro modo per risolverlo? nemmeno riavviando il pc con le modifiche cambia qualcosa!
