Hey there,

sorry for being such a noob, but I tried out for two hours and couldnt find out:

is there any possibility to write on an NTFS file system with the current DFS version? And if there is one... please tell me how... I mounted it and I just always get the message

mv: cannot create directory `/mnt/hdb1/Fotos': Read-only file system

so how can i change the permission, or is there no possibility??

thx a lot!!!

Writing to NTFS isn't supported, because you risk destroying all data in the NTFS-partition. (Microsoft keeps the exact workings of NTFS a secret, so is has been difficult to make proper NTFS-write support for linux)

Having said this, there is a CAPTIVE NTFS for linux, which copies the windows NTFS drivers from installed windows and uses those. Dont know if anyone has ported it to DSL yet?

I have also heard, that the new KNOPPIX 5.0 supports writing to NTFS, so maybe the problem is finally solved?

Linux ext2 and ext3 filesystems are now R/W accessible from windows

Someone built a "captive ntfs" extension for MyDSL but they never published it to the official repository so I don't know where you can get it nowadays.
