I need to find and install "Berkeley Database Library version 4.2."

i've googled for it and have found many and don't know which i'm supposed to download.  (i've found things such as x86_64 and x86_32)
currently i'm trying one that's named "db4.2-4.52-49299-cl.i386.rpm"

when in emelfm i right click and tell it to install the 2 i've tried it asks me for a password.  i tried ''sudo'' but it doesn't appear to get accepted.  from terminal i've tried
"sudo su rpm -Uvh [filename] | more" (stolen from the "edit file type" in emelfm)
it tells me the -Uvh isn't supported.
i remove the switches and try and it says "unknown ID rpm"
i remove ''rpm'' and it still says "unknown ID [filename]"

SDL embeded SDL's gui. jwm

help kill this noob through education.

Never mind :)  i figured out how to bash it.
unfourtinatly, however, i'm getting
"./lib/[file].so : Readonly File System"
i go to top level "/lib" and try to allow write, but it won't let me.
