OK, I'm doing my first remaster. I get all the way through to creating an iso, but my CD-RW is not the drive that DSL boots from. The script wants them to be the same. So, I moved the iso file into my windows partition, found the Windows CD for the CD-RW drive and rebooted. Lilo gives me error 99 repeatedly and hangs. Booting DSL, I can still access the windows partition. How do I restore my Win98SE ? Or, how do I burn the ISO to my USB external CD-RW? Posted by brianw on July 16 2006,19:29
There was a recent post on the 999999 error and a solution in it (was within the last week). As for burning the iso: put in blank CD open the menu from the desktop and go to Tools and select the CD Burn App. in the app go down to Options and press enter and the options menu will come up. For the device select 1,0,0 (if you have an internal CD as well, if not the device will be 0,0,0) and for the image select the iso file an location. Select the Write CD from image box. In the CD-RW device field enter /dev/scd1(if you have an internal cd otherwise the device will be /dev/scd0) and in the other fields select the options you need (I usually select dummy write first just to test then go back in and uncheck it after). When done press F10 to save changes. Then select Write data CD to burn the CD. That should cover it (my advise is to select the dummy write frist to make sure my advice is OK). Oh, (&@$)@$)(! While preparing to fix the Lilo "99 99 99 99" problem, I tried to clear out hda2, my old DSL HD install partition. My plan was to move all my data out of the Windoz partition, fix the Win98 booting problem and move the data back. Somehow, I ended up losing Windoz (no big loss) _and_ all of my data (BIG loss!)!!! Oh, well. I've been saying I wanted to leave Windoz behind. I guess the time has come! Posted by green on July 18 2006,03:22
