so u mean that we can have DSL on AMD 64 bit processors. Does this also mean that we can have any linux distro on AMDs?

Yes, 64-bit cpu's are backwards compatible with 32-bit software (i.e. DSL) - and they both (intel and AMD) support the x86 architecture.Yes other linux distros will work, you could also get the ones that are optimized for your cpu. Posted by kerry on July 24 2006,09:22
Have you tried ubuntu? they have a 64 version-> < http://mirror.cs.umn.edu/ubuntu-releases/6.06/ >I use ubuntu as my daily desktop, there are also other flavors of ubuntu depending on what desktop you want. I alway's keep a eye at distowatch( < http://distrowatch.com/ > ) because i love trying different distro's or seeing if any distro's have improved, but in my case i'm a full blown addict i run through at least a 100 cdr pack a month. kerry, how d'you get the 'lshw' ?it reminds me of the dos 'sysinfo' days. Posted by kerry on July 24 2006,21:44
Sorry humpty, that's from ubuntu. i run dsl on the same computer, so i just used what i was on at the time.

guess I'll settle for "stats.txt" from the DSLpanel. Posted by sankarv on Aug. 02 2006,08:08
DSL is exceptionally working great in my AMD machine. Its of lightening speed and good performance. |
