hey all,

I have a 533Mhz Celeron with 196mb ram, and a 8mb vid card and I was wondering if I would be able to play xvid's.

I tried SimplyMepis, but found that too be too much of a resource hog for my computer and the image stutters pretty badly.

I am able to in some degree in windows 2000 (minimized mode).

Would I be able to with DSL ?

Thanks,
Shawn

Maybe.
This depends on if you can use video acceleration, and if you run into any problems :P

A problem I had was that the xvid capable libraries on _my_ system did not work well with the xv extension.  Probably was using outdated drivers.  So either I had to play xvid's in a non-stretched mode but I preferred to use h.264 videos that worked flawlessly :)

If I remember correctly, the system was a P2 ~350mhz, 4mb ATI Rage Pro 2x agp.
