Hi. I'm new to DSL and to the website: first heard about DSL a few days ago and have been trying to get it to work since. I've had a bunch of problems so far and I think it would be rather intricate to put every little problem in a different topic and wait for an answer before giving the next. And since they're all rather 'basic' problems I guess it could be just as practical (for other newbies) to have them all treated together (in a way that a newbie can understand). So: 1. I'm not quite sure where I should post typical "Help newbie get started" topics. Should I post in the "User Feedback" section or in the (this) "Other Help Topics" section? (Why isn't there a "Starters help" section?) 2. When booting from the LiveCD (that part works!), I can just 'Enter' or I can boot with options. I want to boot with (for example) the option to bring the whole CD content into the RAM. I wrote the string (i.e. "toram") after the boot-prompt (and also tried "/toram"), but it says it "doesn't know it". What is the exact right syntax? 3. When Firefox starts up, but it says it can't connect to site www..... Effectively, it won't connect to any internetsite. What to do? 4. Actually I started this whole project because I want to run the program 'ntfsresize' and I read that running it from a DSL-LiveCD is an fine way to go. But now I don't find ntfsresize in the DSL-menu. Is it included and if so, how do I get to it? Posted by WDef on Sep. 23 2006,15:50
Not a bad question. Unfortunately newbies (we're all newbies in some area or another, but here I mean dsl beginners) seem to just post all over the place.
I'd say you haven't configured dsl for your internet connection. Search the forums for this one.
