I'm about to be completely full of "FireFox won't this" and "FireFox won't that".Jeah I prefer Opera. That's right. But as many people use FireFox and it's quite simple for most people, so I also need it too to test my web pages for compability. Also many distributions include it as a default browser. I could be happy with it if it could work with plugins. I just installed mplayer and mplyer plugin for FireFox. Not working at all. As I go to about:plugins it seems that only plugin working is java. Automatic installion for Flash plugin wont work at all. Same happens when I try to copy libflashplayer.so to different locations. One thing more: I did restart FireFox after each plugin installion tryout. Do I really have to install Opera each time? It just... works. EDIT: I even typed topic wrong. See the furstration? I suppose you already tried ~/.mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so or /usr/lib/mozilla*/plugins/libflashplayer.so ?Maybe check about:plugins and see if it was disabled somehow... But I like prefer Opera myself as well BTW, 'furstration' spelt wrong to show your frustration? :P Posted by Zucca on Sep. 27 2006,16:40
Haha. Maybe I just place that plugin into one of the directories and then make symlinks to every other location. Posted by Zucca on Sep. 27 2006,18:27
SOLVED!I copied libflashplayer.so to /opt/.firefox_plugins adn made sym link to each directory that was related to mozilla and plugins AND deleted ~.mozilla/<a data file that was related to plugins>. Still... Mplayer plugin does not appear on about:plugins page. Posted by lovdsl on Sep. 27 2006,22:41
Since you like opera..would you know how to fix the opera opening size...when I open it on 1024x it is to big and needs to be resized each time before use..firefox is conveniently a nice size...just curious..

afaik, opera just opens to the max? I haven't looked at the settings, though.

Hm. I haven't bumped into that problem... You should look in to ~/:opera/ and search for settings file and look if there's something related to window size. |
