| Cant boot from livecdForum: Other Help Topics Topic: Cant boot from livecd started by: Nokkis Posted by Nokkis on Oct. 26 2006,08:16 The problem is that DSL doesn't boot, it just freezes to the screen with the Tux pictures referring to the number of processors. (I have dualcore, so it's 2) I tried booting with several boot options, "dsl dma toram" as I usually do, then without any options at all, and finally "dsl failsafe lowram" They all just froze on the same screen. Do you know what I could do? Some specs: Intel Pentium D Dualcore 2,66Ghz Club 3d nVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS Posted by ^thehatsrule^ on Oct. 26 2006,14:01 nforce motherboard? Just some guessing: try noacpi acpi=off noapm apm=off nosmp noapic No idea if all of them are parsed by DSL. Posted by Nokkis on Oct. 27 2006,18:49 No, my motherboard is a Gigabyte one. The commands didn't work, DSL freezed into the same screen. Any ideas, anyone? Posted by ^thehatsrule^ on Oct. 27 2006,23:26 I didn't mean the motherboard manufacturer - I was referring to the chipsets. Did you happen to get any other distros on that machine? Posted by Nokkis on Oct. 29 2006,14:24 My chipset is SiS 649DX, so seemingly no problem there. Knoppix runs just fine Posted by ^thehatsrule^ on Oct. 30 2006,00:09 Hm, I guess you could try other boot codes that are listed in F2/F3/wiki. Actually, did you double check if your media isn't corrupted (or copied correctly)? Posted by Nokkis on Oct. 30 2006,06:15 Yeah, I downloaded a new ISO, and it worked on another computer. Guess I'll try the cheatcodes then. Posted by joekabal on Nov. 22 2006,00:39 having the same problem...knoppix 5.0 works fine on it...nvidia chipset...I also have a single core/ nvidia chipset...no sound or internet...both are onboard....once again knoppix 5.0 works fine on it...would like to see dsl work on them... |
