cron and mail -- cron job not startsForum: Other Help Topics Topic: cron and mail -- cron job not starts started by: NewLinuxGuy Posted by NewLinuxGuy on Dec. 03 2006,20:04
Using apt-get install cron, i installed the cron and verified that it is running by using ps -fe|grep cron. However, whatever i set up, nothing happend, even a simple scritp as #!/bin/sh echo Hello > /tmp/cron_check seems would not start. I checked man page for cron. It mentioned that cron will email the error message to the account owner. Now my question is that "do I need a mail client/server to use cron?" I answered myself in another post. Just in case you are interested. < http://damnsmalllinux.org/cgi-bin....t=0;r=1 > PS. if you know what you are doing on cron, don't bother with kcron, which is nice, but not necessarey worths the 35 MB spaces it needs on HD (considering a large portion of DSL users are using older machines) - IMHO |
