I am semi-new to linux. I have played around with Knoppix and Debian. I want to take the current DSL version and take out some of the things I don't need and add BOINC. If someone could give the steps to get to be able to add and remove programs, then create the image again that would be great.

You may want to read through this lengthy thread, which has been kept updated over the last couple of years

Have you at least got BOINC up and running on DSL? If not, let me know. I am also trying to figure out how to to run BOINC on DSL off a CD on one of my pc's. It has no HD and cannot boot off usb. So, I think remastering is the way. BOINC is not one of the DSL extensions. The remastering instructions are not easy. But, I will let you know if it works. Feel free to email me directly too. Good to run BOINC.
