Mounting and accessing USB drives in DSLForum: Other Help Topics Topic: Mounting and accessing USB drives in DSL started by: aldanait Posted by aldanait on Feb. 07 2007,16:58
Hi! I'm new to DSL. It works great so far, but I need some assistance in mounting and accessing USB drives. Here are my questions:1. Can I use any USB drive or are there any limitations? 2. Can I mount and access data from a USB drive from the GUI interface? If so, how? 3. If not, then can I do it from the command prompt? If so, I how? Remember, I'm new to DSL and to the Linux world in general. So I am willing to make the effort of learning, but for now it might go down as far as guiding me how to draw the lines from points A, B, C, to D. Thank your for your assistance. Hi aldanait!I have tried several USB-drives (Sandisk Titanium etc.) and they have all worked just fine. You can mount and access the contents with Emelfm. Just open Emelfm and doubleclick on mnt in the right panel and probably you'll find something called sda1 which most likely is your USB-drive. Rightclick on it and leftclick on mount in the dropdown menu. You should now be able to see the contents on your drive. Just remember that you must open Emelfm as superuser if to be able to save files etc. on it. Have fun with DSL, meo Posted by Zucca on Feb. 16 2007,18:02
