Hi there. I'm fairly new to DSL (by that I mean I have never used it), and thought it would be good for an old comp i have, ~180mhz processor and 2.something gb hd. So, got image on floppy, did a "dsl fromcd", and got kinda far. Then some errors started popping up, and finally I get this screen with an x in it. DOnt know if its just taking its time or if its froze, but here are some pics.

Thanks for help in advance, I will try to clarify if needed. Is this normal? Do I just give it time, or...idk...

EDIT: Got past that. Now it looks like the normal grey screen with a small toolbar on bottom with "workspace" and some other things on the toolbar, but mouse does not seem to work. Its a standard ps/2 mouse, no bells or whistles.

EDIT 2: a Getting Started screen is up, and some unreadable text seems to update every so often in upper-right of screen. Keyboard/mouse still does not work. I am thinking it froze, cause iin the browser window where it displays the directory, the vertical curser "|" is not blinking, but maybe its not supposed to. Could the ps/2 be disabled in bios?

So anyway, help still appreciated!

Have a look at:

To use the info there try starting the system by typing

dsl 2

when the boot: prompt appears.

From your first screenshot, it is suggesting that your BIOS is incorrectly set up...
maybe you have enter it and set some things up?
(It really shouldn't take so long, since my 133mhz boots in several mins)

I'll suggest to try some cheat codes (in the wiki) and as a quick test, try booting with "dsl fromcd failsafe lowram"

Alright, will try those out. I don't think I have anything misconfigured in the BIOS (Im new to linux, but experienced with general PCs), and the keyboard does work where I type in "dsl from cd", so I guess its just going wrong after that.

Thanks again. Will post sometime after school.
