i am attempting to compile madwifi, when i cd to the directory holding the madwifi data, and "make", i get the following errors:

Make: execvp: ./scripts/get_arch_target.sh: Permission denied
Makefile.inc:124 *** Cannot determine kernel architecture, please check /lib/modules/2.4.26/build/.config. Stop.

(i used to get " /bin/sh: line 1: cc: command not found " in addition to those errors, but i fixed that problem with the help of a topic on the forum)

any ideas?
i have these dsl extensions:
-gcc1-with-libs.dsl
-gcc1.dsl
-gtk2-0705.dsl
-linux-kernel-headers.dsl
-kernelsources.dsl
(i did a few forum searches and downloaded whatever was suggested for a compile)

i have been racking my brain on this for quite a while now, any help is appreciated. :)

It looks like you need to load the default DSL/Knoppix kernel configuration file, .config.

Probably the easiest way to do this is:
Code Sample
# cd /usr/src/linux-2.4.26
# make menuconfig

Then you need to choose the menu item to load an alternate configuration file, enter the path to the .config file, and then save the configuration and exit.

after " make menuconfig " i get " make: *** no rule to make target 'menuconfig'. Stop. "
:/

Hmm...this sounds as though you might need the full kernel sources - before that, you could try to copy .config to /lib/modules/2.4.26/build/ and see if that does the trick.

Did you check if that file exists? With permission denied, do you have use root privileges?

when i go to /lib/modules/2.4.26/build, it takes me to /usr/src/linux-2.4.26. i try to copy .config there, but it tells me (of course) that the file already exists there.

im thinking ill just upgrade to dsl v3.3 (3.1 right now), and start from scratch. would that possibly help? IIRC, i think i saw something in 3.2's release notes that there was an upgraded madwifi dsl package for use with current versions? can anyone verify this?

Older versions can use the madwifi extensions from MyDSL. DSL 3.2 (and 3.3) has madwifi in the ISO -- no extension is needed. There was a thread about that in the last couple weeks.
