(other than hit the reset button) Posted by roberts on July 25 2007,22:05 Use the control panel and backup/restore button then click None DSL 4 has an option upon shutdown/reboot. Posted by mikshaw on July 25 2007,22:06 open up the backup/restore tool and clear out the listed device, or remove the device listed in (or delete) /opt/.backup_device Posted by william99 on July 26 2007,09:52 thx. i'm looking forward to dsl 4 Posted by Big_Pc_Man on July 26 2007,15:36 Do the solutions offered in the above posts turnoff the automatic backup that occurs on shutdown or restart forever? In other words, disables the auto backup feature until a manual backup is requested again. Posted by ^thehatsrule^ on July 26 2007,15:48 No, it is only temporary.  If you do not want to backup, the easiest way is to _not_ use restore.  If you still want your previous settings, just rename it and let DSL pick it up as a regular mydsl extension. Posted by Big_Pc_Man on July 27 2007,02:44 The reason I'm asking all these questions is that I'm trying to avoid a sequence of events that was quite frustrating. I had an extention that failed to load on boot that stopped all further restore operations resulting in default /opt and /home being loaded. Not thinking I rebooted to take a closer look at the measages which resulted in my backup file being corrupted due to the auto backup on shutdown. Not good! |
