I need help. I want a version of DSL that only has the necessary components to boot up, and use a web browser.

How would I accomplish this?

You could search the Web for KIOSKCD or BOOTHCD - there may be more than one with similar names.
I found boothcd 0.3.7 some time ago, which I was able to remaster, using DSL principles if I remember, to add flash and realplayer files.
