Put the extension in /mydsl or /mydsl/optional on your boot device (or have a look at the wiki).

thanks for quick response i found no /mydsl directory, btw i found a .mydsl file where a directory is specified... and the directory is /home/dsl -_- [edit] dunno why, but now it work ty Posted by Juanito on Sep. 13 2007,10:03
You need to create the /mydsl and /mydsl/optional directories - at boot, everything in the former will be loaded automatically and everything in the latter will be added to the left-click menu.

really... it worked with firefox then i tried with XFree86.dsl does not load does not load does not load ... dunno why, dunno how, at last it loaded woot, cool, \o/ and double \o/ , it work reboot now it's not starting: unable to load module or something similar i had to restart with xvesa, and reload manually xfree86 BUT it does not load anymore :\ ah, and i tried to do # mkdir /mydsl # mkdir /mydsl/optional then i cannot copy here XFree86.dsl 'cause "no space left on device". unluckily, i got more than 512 MB free -.- Posted by roberts on Sep. 13 2007,18:03
You should read the "Getting Started" document.Extensions should not be downloaded in the home directory. Doing so will cause your backup to slow to a crawl if not overrun your backup device. The level one /mydsl directory must be on a persistent storage device, i.e., a partition on a hard drive or flash device. Posted by Divago on Sep. 14 2007,08:19
i use < http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page > as documentation btw, if i use a persistent mydsl directory (think will be not so different than having a persistent home ) i need to change the .mydsl file? i mean: i found a /home/dsl/.mydsl file;
so i think this will point to directory where are stored mydsl extension if i change directory (creating a persistent mydsl folder) i need to change this one too, right? Posted by Juanito on Sep. 14 2007,11:21
Maybe it would illustrate things better to give an example.I am booting a laptop from a usb stick which is named sda1 - under dsl, it contains the following: /mnt/sda1/KNOPPIX/KNOPPIX /mnt/sda1/lost+found /mnt/sda1/mydsl --> [put the extensions to load at boot here] /mnt/sda1/mydsl/optional --> [put the extensions for the right-click menu here] /mnt/sda1/backup.tar.gz /mnt/sda1/f2 /mnt/sda1/boot.cat /mnt/sda1/extlinux.conf /mnt/sda1/f3 /mnt/sda1/linux24 /mnt/sda1/minirt24.gz /mnt/sda1/boot.msg /mnt/sda1/extlinux.sys /mnt/sda1/german.kbd /mnt/sda1/logo.16 dsl will automatically find the extensions in /mydsl and /mydsl/optional. In dsl-n, I believe you will need to use a boot code "mydsl=sda1" or similar. Posted by ^thehatsrule^ on Sep. 14 2007,14:17
If you prefer the wiki, see < http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/wiki....at_Boot > maybe?
