I tried booting DSL off of a CD but ran into a slight problem. As soon as miniroot.gz finishes loading (on the first screen you come too, the one that has a little blurb about DSL being a hacked Knoppix and starts with the line "boot:") the screen resolution changes but after it finishes the screen is just black. The monitor is still getting a signal and i can turn capslock/numlock on and off for about 30 seconds after that, but after that they don't toggle.
I've tried 0.4.9, 0.4.10, and 0.5 (Yes, the non-corrupt one) and had the same problem with all of them both on my computer and another spare machine.

Specs:
MB: Asus A7N8X
Processor: Barton 2500+ XP
RAM: 1024MB
Video: Radeon 9800

Any and all help would be appreciated

Try a boot prompt "fb1024x768" without the quotes.

i found a solution, for you boot string add "vga=normal" sans quotes.

IE:
boot: knoppix vga=normal toram
