New kernel for DSL?Forum: Other Help Topics Topic: New kernel for DSL? started by: captainpotato Posted by captainpotato on Jan. 18 2004,11:37
Now that I have worked out that I can use Lynx to post to the forums, I can ask the question that has been plaguing me most of all...I wish to use my Nokia 5510 phone as my flash disk, and boot off of CD. However, the Nokia 5510 is only supported in kernels newer than 2.4.22 (including the 2.6.x series obviously). When is a newer kernel likely to appear, and failing a relatively quick release, how do I go about compiling a standard 2.4.22 kernel AND get it down to the DSL kernel size? Whilst I suppose I could patch the 2.4.20 kernel in the latest DSL release, I don't really want to do this, as I have yet to install DSL on to a hard drive, so modifying the CD distribution is not my idea of fun :P |
