Can I install KDE on DSL, if it uses xserver shouldnt it be compatible!?!?

Yes you could install KDE but it would be easier just to install knoppix.

Theres a cut down (250mb) version of knoppix which would save you a lot of grief :)

Should be somewhere on the knoppix site under mini-knoppix.

thanks i did that a look at knoppix.net but thought it was to big - but now will happily take another look :), is it easy to uninstall dsl, just delete the partition and create it again?! seems the easiest method for a noob like me

Perhaps you could try Morphix or SLAX, they're both light and have KDE.

If you can read Portuguese - Kurumin looks like the most tweaked and impressive 185m mini-CD distro (Based on Knoppix too!)

It comes packed with scripts which can install anything from apache to vmware . Also has karamba desktop enhancements.

Cheers
